Surgical Registered Veterinary Nurse – No weekends
This hospital is looking to recruit a confident and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its specialist-led referral surgery team. Based on the edge of the Wirral and close to Chester, this is an excellent opportunity for a nurse with a passion for surgery and anaesthesia to develop their skills within a busy referral environment, working alongside highly experienced clinicians while maintaining an excellent work-life balance with a four-day working week and no weekend commitments.
The successful candidate will become part of a dedicated theatre team, working closely with Diplomate-level surgical specialists, RCVS Advanced Practitioners in Small Animal Surgery and an experienced team of referral nurses. The role is primarily theatre based and offers exposure to a diverse and rewarding surgical caseload, making it ideal for a nurse who enjoys anaesthesia and perioperative patient care. Candidates should be confident working within a theatre setting and either hold, or be interested in pursuing, a certificate in anaesthesia or surgical nursing. While previous referral experience would be advantageous, comprehensive support and ongoing development will be provided for the right candidate.
Applicants should be RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurses with strong knowledge of anaesthesia, surgical nursing and theatre practice. Previous referral nursing experience or a certificate in Veterinary Surgical Nursing or Anaesthesia would be beneficial but is not essential. Above all, the practice is looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, a collaborative approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.
The position is offered on a full-time basis, working 40 hours over four days (8:00am–6:30pm), with no weekend or out-of-hours commitments.

Head Registered Veterinary Nurse
An established small animal practice in South East London is seeking an experienced and motivated Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to lead its nursing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident RVN who enjoys combining hands-on clinical nursing with leadership responsibilities, while helping to shape the continued success and development of a busy, modern practice.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining high clinical standards, supporting and mentoring colleagues, and fostering a positive team culture. Working closely with the veterinary team, they will oversee the day-to-day running of the nursing department while continuing to provide outstanding patient care and exceptional client service.

The role is based on a four-day working week with 9.5-hour shifts, together with participation in a one-in-six weekend rota. A competitive salary is offered, dependent on experience, alongside excellent opportunities for career progression and continued professional development.

Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
Salary: £30,000–£33,000 per annum
An independent, multi-award-winning veterinary practice is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join its friendly and supportive team. This opportunity is available on either a full-time or part-time basis and is primarily based at the practice's clinic near Brighton, with occasional work across its nearby coastal sites.
The practice is a well-equipped village clinic featuring a consulting room, operating theatre and modern diagnostic facilities. Alongside another branch, it offers digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, multiparameter monitoring, an in-house IDEXX laboratory, blood pressure monitoring, microscopy and Sedivue urinalysis. The practice is committed to delivering high standards of patient care, allowing clients to build lasting relationships with the clinical team.
The successful candidate will join an experienced team consisting of veterinary surgeons, registered veterinary nurses and reception staff who work collaboratively to provide exceptional first-opinion care. The role offers a varied caseload, including nurse consultations, theatre support, inpatient nursing, laboratory work, patient admissions and discharges, and maintaining clinical standards throughout the practice. There will also be opportunities to supervise work experience students and, once training practice status is achieved, provide clinical coaching to Student Veterinary Nurses.
The practice welcomes applications from experienced RVNs as well as recently qualified nurses who are keen to develop their confidence in both medical and surgical nursing. Applicants should be registered with the RCVS, possess excellent communication and organisational skills, and enjoy working closely with colleagues while delivering compassionate, patient-focused care.
A full-time position typically consists of 37 hours per week worked over four 9.25-hour days, although a five-day working pattern or part-time hours can also be accommodated. Full-time staff have either Tuesday or Wednesday as their regular day off and participate in a one-in-three Saturday morning rota. There are no out-of-hours responsibilities, and overtime is uncommon but paid when required.
The practice is committed to supporting professional development and employee wellbeing. Nurses are encouraged to develop their clinical interests, with the autonomy to make decisions based on patient care rather than financial targets. Ongoing learning is supported through experienced colleagues, a collaborative team culture and opportunities for further qualifications.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of £30,000–£33,000 per annum, depending on experience, together with four weeks' annual leave plus bank holidays, paid lunch breaks wherever possible (or payment in lieu if missed), a £1,000 annual CPD allowance, funded certificate support where appropriate, payment of RCVS fees, VDS membership and one additional professional membership if requested.
