This exciting position will provide anaesthesia, surgical and diagnostic nursing care to patients passing through the preparation and theatre areas. You will get exposure to caring for patients with a range of conditions. You will be responsible for delivering a high level of nursing care to the patients assigned throughout the entire anaesthesia/surgical and diagnostic process and you should be a dynamic individual with high attention to detail and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. We have a 12-week induction training scheme where all new nurses are trained by a nursing mentor. Ongoing support is provided via quarterly one-to-one meetings and a yearly appraisal. The nursing structure and encouragement for extra learning and CPD allows nurses to grow and develop their career in different directions. This is a full-time role, working a 40-hour week, on a rotating shift pattern alongside a 1 in 4 weekend rota with days off in lieu. You will also be required to work as part of a bank holiday rota. We are looking for enthusiastic and compassionate individuals with a particular interest in the provision of ward-based nursing care. The right candidate will join a team of nurses, veterinary care assistants and vets to deliver the high standard of care our patients deserve. Overnight, we have three nurses, three veterinary care assistants and a vet on-site, all dedicated to looking after our inpatients. You will be a registered and experienced nurse who is forward-thinking, shows empathy and demonstrates exemplary teamwork. Previous experience in referral nursing would be beneficial, but we also encourage applications from registered veterinary nurses with post-qualification, first-opinion practice and/or ECC experience. This role plays a key part in the organisation, working to oversee the inpatient care for all our patients overnight. As Night Coordinator, alongside your nursing responsibilities, you will guide and provide support to your night nurse and veterinary care assistant colleagues in both clinical and interpersonal matters. The role requires someone who can work under pressure and work collaboratively with stakeholders of all levels. It is therefore essential that the candidate possesses excellent people and communication skills, is proactive and resourceful with the ability to deal with a busy and demanding role. This position is ideal for an experienced night nurse who wants to take the next step in their career and take on additional responsibility whilst maintaining their love of inpatient care at the core of their role. Experience in a busy ward environment is essential, some experience in a role that requires an additional level of organisation or co-ordination would be beneficial but not essential as training, and support will be given to the successful candidate.
