Registered Veterinary Nurse

Wallace Veterinary Centres · GB

On-site

Welcome to Wallace Vets. A practice where you’re valued, can grow, and nursing really means nursing. Are you an RVN who loves using your skills, being trusted as a clinical professional, and working in a genuinely friendly team? Looking for an independent practice that gives you freedom, balance, and support? For over 20 years, we’ve been caring for pets across Dundee and Angus, growing from a single site to a thriving family-run independent practice with three branches in Broughty Ferry, Carnoustie, and Arbroath. Our dedicated, experienced team of 60 ensures that, despite our size, we’ve kept a warm, one-team, family feel. Where Exceptional Care Meets An Exceptional Culture We’re proud to have recently been awarded BVA Great Workplace – Silver Accreditation. This recognises Wallace Vets as a place where teamwork thrives, flexibility is a priority, and every voice is valued. By supporting our people with a true work–life balance and a culture of mutual respect, we’ve created a work family that's as passionate about supporting each other as we are about the animals in our care. Why You’ll Love Working With Us At Wallace Vets, we believe our RVNs are valued clinical professionals. That’s why we make sure you get to use all your skills and grow them too. - Schedule 3 freedom – As well as your regular duties, we encourage freedom under Schedule 3, including minor surgery - True clinical variety – With three branches, you’ll rotate across different sites (no fixed pattern; we tailor it to life and preferences). No two weeks look the same, unless you want them to - Progression & support – Love consulting? ECC? Surgical nursing? Behaviour? Nutrition? We’ll support your interests. We encourage our nurses to run their own clinics and pursue further training or certificates - Independent & agile – With one owner–director who still works clinically, decisions happen quickly, ideas are genuinely heard, and good changes can be put into action without delay - A supportive nurse leadership team – We have four Head Nurses across the group, plus a clinical manager who focuses on developing people, supporting performance, and keeping the team happy What Our Team Says “I love working at Wallace Vets because it fits perfectly around my busy family life, and management are all so accommodating when things crop up. I love the team. I feel they really embrace everyone's quirks, and I can be unapologetically myself. On top of all of this, they have also encouraged and supported my own personal projects both with them and out of the company.” Casey, RVN “I've been part of the team for over 9 years, and I still look forward to coming to work every day. What I love most is the variety – no two days are ever the same, especially with different practices to work in. The team spirit is fantastic; we're always there to support each other and keep the mood light. And, of course, who wouldn't love cuddling cats and dogs as part of their job? Plus, the management team is incredibly supportive. When I expressed interest in clinical coaching, they backed me all the way, and now I have the pleasure of mentoring a student in vet nursing.” Stacey, RVN The Role We’re looking for a dedicated, proactive RVN who wants to make a real impact in patient care. Whether you’re experienced, newly qualified, or soon-to-qualify (finished your NPL and waiting on OSCEs), we can support you. You’ll be hands-on every day, involved in inpatient care, diagnostics, radiography, dental procedures, client education, and clinical decision-making. If you’re passionate about nursing, you’ll thrive here. Your Rota & Work-Life Balance We want our RVNs to enjoy a genuine work-life balance, with flexibility that fits your lifestyle—so you have time to spend with loved ones, pursue hobbies, or simply recharge. - Standard 4-day week (36 hours)—with options for 3- or 5-day, because one size doesn’t fit all - Balanced weekends—only 1-in-8 weekends (Saturday and Sunday) - No routine nights or on-call—our dedicated night team covers 24/7 in-house care. However, if you enjoy emergency work, occasional night shifts are available as an opportunity to get involved and develop additional skills Salary & Benefits - Salary up to £37,125 (pro-rata), depending on experience and whether you work 3, 4, or 5 days a week - All overtime is paid - Flexibility wherever we can offer it - 6 weeks annual leave, increasing with service (every 4 years) - Funded CPD & certificates - Paid RCVS & VDS fees - Private medical insurance - Enhanced maternity/paternity pay - Pension scheme - Staff discounts & wellbeing perks - Options available for us to pay outstanding training costs with your current employer The People (AKA the best bit) At Wallace Vets, the people really are the best part of the job. With nearly 60 team members, the team is built on connection and collaboration. Because our whole team works across all three sites, you get to know everyone and feel part of a truly united group. There’s always someone to laugh with, share knowledge, or enjoy a coffee break with. We’re social, outdoors-loving, and community-minded, and we make time to enjoy life together. Our team has a  WhatsApp social group to organise everything from goat yoga outings and cocktail nights to team dog walks, wild swimming groups, and fitness challenges. Plus, we have our annual summer party and big Christmas night out for the whole team. Our team extends beyond the clinic, actively supporting the community and local initiatives, sports groups, and charities throughout the year, reflecting the same care and commitment we bring to our patients. Life in Dundee & the Surrounding Area If you’re moving to the area, you’ll love it here. Dundee is widely regarded as Scotland’s sunniest city, has been named “Scotland’s coolest city” by GQ, and was featured by Lonely Planet as one of Europe’s top destinations, thanks to its vibrant cultural scene and stunning waterfront. Compact and walkable, yet packed with character, the city offers a perfect balance of city life and nature, with beaches, hills, and the River Tay all on your doorstep. It’s also far more affordable than many other parts of Scotland, making it an ideal place to live, work, and explore. In just 20–30 minutes, you can be paddleboarding, hiking, trail running, exploring the Glens, or enjoying the cafés along the coast, and it’s just an hour or so to Edinburgh, with Glasgow and Aberdeen also within easy reach. The role offers a varied caseload, including nurse consultations, theatre support, inpatient nursing, laboratory work, patient admissions and discharges, and maintaining clinical standards throughout the practice. There will also be opportunities to supervise work experience students and, once training practice status is achieved, provide clinical coaching to Student Veterinary Nurses. The practice welcomes applications from experienced RVNs as well as recently qualified nurses who are keen to develop their confidence in both medical and surgical nursing. Applicants should be registered with the RCVS, possess excellent communication and organisational skills, and enjoy working closely with colleagues while delivering compassionate, patient-focused care. A full-time position typically consists of 37 hours per week worked over four 9.25-hour days, although a five-day working pattern or part-time hours can also be accommodated. Full-time staff have either Tuesday or Wednesday as their regular day off and participate in a one-in-three Saturday morning rota. There are no out-of-hours responsibilities, and overtime is uncommon but paid when required. The practice is committed to supporting professional development and employee wellbeing. Nurses are encouraged to develop their clinical interests, with the autonomy to make decisions based on patient care rather than financial targets. Ongoing learning is supported through experienced colleagues, a collaborative team culture and opportunities for further qualifications. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of £30,000–£33,000 per annum, depending on experience, together with four weeks' annual leave plus bank holidays, paid lunch breaks wherever possible (or payment in lieu if missed), a £1,000 annual CPD allowance, funded certificate support where appropriate, payment of RCVS fees, VDS membership and one additional professional membership if requested. Bramble and Bear Vet Care · Derbyshire, GB

On-site

Join the supportive team at Bramble & Bear as we continue to grow our independent, forward-thinking practice with the recent opening of our brand-new Hospital and Rehab Centre. About Us Matt and I (Hannah) began our journey just over three years ago when a shared passion for veterinary medicine and providing exceptional care to both pets and their owners drove us to open Bramble and Bear. As vets who have managed several practices between us, we wanted to bring the best aspects of our experiences in practice together with all the fantastic ideas we hadn’t been able to implement. Our goal was to create a forward-thinking practice and foster an environment where everyone can thrive and enjoy their work. What began as a small mobile clinic quickly grew into a fully equipped mobile surgical unit, and by September 2023, we opened our first hub in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands. Since then, we’ve continued to expand and evolve. We're incredibly proud of what we've achieved so far, and with our purpose-built Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre now complete and officially open, this new facility marks an exciting new chapter for our team and the communities we serve. The hospital features two fully equipped theatres, a dedicated dental suite, and an imaging suite equipped with DR X-ray, Doppler ultrasound, and endoscopy, allowing us to treat most cases in-house. In keeping with our Fear-Free accreditation, we’ve created separate cat and dog wards to ensure a calm, stress-free environment for all our patients, as well as an outdoor space for inpatients and our team to enjoy fresh air and a moment of calm during recovery or downtime. Being situated on a working farm provides a peaceful atmosphere, and it’s great to have the farm shop and café next door if we fancy a treat for lunch. Alongside the hospital, our newly opened Rehab Centre offers advanced rehabilitation services, including an underwater treadmill, hydrotherapy, and a dedicated physiotherapy space. These facilities will allow us to support pets through post-operative recovery, chronic pain management, and mobility issues—all under one roof. We aim to care for every pet and client with compassion and expertise, at an affordable price. That’s why we’re transparent with our pricing—offering free consultations and fixed-cost hospitalisation and surgery. It’s helped us build strong, trusting relationships with our clients, who appreciate knowing exactly what to expect. Now that the Hospital is open, our team will be on-site 24/7, allowing us to offer those free consultations around the clock and making a real difference to our clients and the local community. Our Team We had previously worked with Anna, our Head Nurse, and were so pleased she shared our ethos and was willing to start this journey with us. Anna has many years of experience and has recently completed her certificate in feline nursing. We are an accredited nurse training practice, with a team of 3 RVNs and 1 SVN. I enjoy all aspects of small animal work, but I am particularly interested in internal medicine, ECC, and cardiology, while Matt enjoys soft-tissue surgeries, including BOAS and hiatal hernias. We're both currently working towards our ECC certificates. Matt also loves mentoring and even took a break from clinical work to complete his teaching degree. His support has been invaluable to Grace, who joined us as a new graduate in 2025, and to Beth, who joined the team after graduating in December. We also have regular visits from an orthopaedic surgeon to perform any fracture repairs or cruciate surgeries in-house. “Here at Bramble and Bear, we see a large, varied caseload in an idyllic setting. We are well-equipped for a variety of emergency and critical care cases, and as a team, we strive to give the best possible patient and client care. We enrol new clients and patients daily, and no two days are ever the same. The team enjoys a challenge, but also has a laugh along the way. I have been with Bramble and Bear since its establishment, and can't see myself in any other workplace. We are complimented on our professional and personal touches, and this is what makes us truly stand out as a lovely place to work.” Anna, Head RVN “I really enjoy working at Bramble and Bear as we see such a varied caseload, no two days are ever the same! The team is super supportive, and we are such a little family. I also love that Hannah and Matt always listen to new ideas the team puts forward and are willing to change things for the better, where possible. We are also always adapting to achieve gold standard care, which is so important for patient wellbeing.” Grace RVN “I enjoy working at Bramble and Bear as there is always something new to learn here. They see a large variety of cases, which keeps each day different, and everyone in the team gets to be involved. The team are very welcoming, and we all get on like a little family. The values that Hannah and Matt have created for Bramble and Bear shine through every day to make the practice open to everyone and to uphold really high standards.” Tegan VCA About the Role We are looking for an RVN to join our growing team. This is a practice where nurses are encouraged to fully use all their skills, from hands-on inpatient care and anaesthesia to running comprehensive nurse clinics. We’re passionate about supporting your professional growth and giving you the freedom to follow your interests, whether that’s pursuing a certificate or getting involved in rehabilitation. If you’re looking for a role where you can really nurse and be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team, we’d love to hear from you. The rota is a 4-day week, working either a 7.30 am–4.30 pm or 11 am–8. 30 pm shift. We provide our own out-of-hours service, shared on a 1-in-3 weekend and one weeknight on-call basis. The weekend will include your Saturday shift (9-12), which is reserved for non-routine or urgent cases only. Thanks to our free daytime consultations, out-of-hours work is typically very manageable—usually just one or two advice calls per week—and if there are no inpatients, you’ll be able to be on-call from home, only attending the practice if needed. Outside of Work We're a friendly bunch who love getting together outside work to catch up and unwind. Whether it's enjoying a well-deserved drink at the local pub, exploring the great outdoors with our canine crew (feel free to borrow one of ours!), or celebrating the festive season with our annual Christmas party. As our team grows, we look forward to even more social events and creating lasting memories together. The Staffordshire Moorlands are perfect for walking and cycling, and you can enjoy incredible views from the nearby craggy rocks of the Roaches, which overlook Leek and Tittesworth Reservoir, where you can go sailing or kayaking. Stoke-on-Trent is one of the greenest cities in the UK, with many green spaces and parks, including Westport Lake and Park Hall Country Park. There are excellent transport links, with Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham easily reached in an hour, and, for thrill-seekers, Alton Towers is just 20 minutes away. We Offer - A salary of £28,000 to £34,000, depending on experience - 5.6 weeks’ holiday, including bank holidays - Uncapped CPD budget, with certificates supported and funded - Professional fees paid for RCVS & VDS - Bupa private healthcare If you want to be part of our exciting adventure and build a rewarding career, we'd love to hear from you.
