Are you a Registered Veterinary Nurse looking for a genuinely supportive, community-focused practice where high standards of patient care and team culture still matter? At South Dublin Vets, we’ve been caring for pets and their people for generations. Our Terenure hospital has been part of the local community since the mid-1970s, with practice owner Mark taking over in 2006 before opening our second Dundrum branch in 2011. What started as a small team of one vet, one nurse and one receptionist has grown into a close-knit team of 19 across two thriving practices. We are now looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse, or Veterinary Nurse eligible to register with the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI), to join our friendly and experienced team. This role would suit a compassionate and proactive nurse who enjoys all aspects of small animal practice. Ideally, we're looking for an experienced RVN who can confidently contribute to our well-established team. However, we would also welcome applications from enthusiastic new graduates looking to build their skills and confidence in a nurturing environment with plenty of support available. As an RVN at South Dublin Vets, you'll play an integral role in delivering excellent patient care, supporting consultations and surgical procedures, monitoring anaesthetics, caring for hospitalised patients, and building strong relationships with clients. We pride ourselves on providing a high standard of care in-house wherever possible, always guided by a simple ethos: do what's right for the patient, go the extra mile when we can, and treat every client and pet with genuine compassion. We're looking for someone who enjoys being part of a real community practice and who wants to work alongside long-standing colleagues who genuinely enjoy what they do. Our team is led by Mark, who qualified in Dublin in 1997 and previously worked with both the RSPCA Hospital in Manchester and the PDSA Hospital in East London, developing a strong passion for animal welfare along the way. Alongside him are Alyson and Adrienne, who have each been part of the practice team for more than 15 years — something we feel says a great deal about the culture we’ve created here. Both sites are very well equipped, with ultrasound at both branches, alongside endoscopy and all the facilities you’d expect to support a first-opinion practice and hospital at Terenure. The role offers an excellent work-life balance, with 35–40 hours per week and just 1 in 3 Saturday mornings. There are no out-of-hours responsibilities, with all OOH care covered by the University College Dublin Veterinary Hospital, allowing you to enjoy your time away from work. What we can offer: - Salary of €32,000–€40,000 DOE (approximately £27,660–£34,580) - 5.6 weeks holiday including bank holidays - VCI and VDS memberships paid - Generous CPD support with certificates encouraged - Varied and interesting medical and surgical caseload - No OOH or on call - Social events, nights out and a fantastic Christmas party - A welcoming practice culture where team wellbeing genuinely matters Outside of clinical work, being part of the local community is hugely important to us. Each year, we sponsor the Terenure 5 Mile race and host the much-loved Edyta Keeling Art Competition in memory of our late veterinary nurse, Edyta Keeling. Children from across Dublin are invited to submit drawings and paintings of their pets and favourite animals, with close to 900 entries received each year. This is something we’re incredibly proud to continue supporting as a practice. Located in the vibrant and highly desirable south Dublin suburbs, you’ll enjoy the perfect balance of city life and community charm. With fantastic cafés, restaurants, parks and transport links on your doorstep, plus easy access to Dublin city centre, the mountains and the coast, it’s an incredible place to build both a career and a life. If we sound like the practice for you, please get in touch for a chat, or apply now.
